Fenêtre
watercolor on paper

Claire Le Breton, born in an artistically versed
family, from a Dutch mother and a French father, finds
the best of both worlds in Charentes-Maritimes: a
country of wild marshes and open skies, tempered by human works and mild presence... in the sun of the French Atlantic coast.

Her paintings, exhibited for the first time in Fouras,
Charentes-Maritimes, bring this duality and
ambivalence. The influence of the old Dutch masters is
clear in Le Breton's painting technique and in her
skillfull and tender portraits, while her aquarelles
evoque the French post-impressionist school.
Claire Le Breton's talents are wide: ranging from oil
painting to pastel drawing, including aquarelle and
ink, she brings to life all sorts of subjects. From
portraits -especially of children- and nudes, to the
wilderness of Charentes nature, as well as daily local
sceneries and still lifes, one can feel how her heart
beats for the subject at hand... and for this
beautiful region, where she came back after years of
travelling.

As she says: "I used to work ceramics and clay, so I
do love modelling...and therefore pastel and nudes. I
like to make the subject stand out of the paper and,
so to speak, see it turn."

The exhibition, featuring Claire Le Breton in tandem
with Claudie Jimenez, Charentes' pastel artist, will
be on display:
Salle DANGUY - Place Carnot (near the post office) - 17450 Fouras - FRANCE
open daily: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
(tous les jours de 9 heures à 19 heures.)
