JUROR:
Harvey Stein is a professional photographer,
author and educator. He has exhibited his work extensively
in nearly 200 solo and group exhibitions. His published
books include Movimento: Glimpses of Italian
Street Life (Gangemi Editiore, 2006). Coney
Island (W.W. Norton, 1998), Artists
Observed (Harry Abrams, 1986), and Parallels,
A Look At Twins (E.P. Dulton, 1978). He
currently teaches at The International Center of
Photography and numerous workshops throughout the
country and has had his images published in dozen
of publications such as The New Yorker, Time,
Life, Esquire, American Heritage, Smithsonian, The
New York Times and CameraArts to name
a few. His photographs are in over 45 public collections
(Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston; New Orleans Museum of Art; Denver Museum
of Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art) and numerous private

ENTRY
PROCEDURE: Entries will be juried only
from CDs, with the following requirements:
- High
quality jpegs 72 resolution in RGB or grayscale
color space
- Size:
600 pixels on the longest dimension
- Numbered
and named, e.g., 01_Smith_TITLE.jpg.
- Burn
CD to play on Macs
Please
submit up to 5 images on a CD. Include finished
print size on application form. Include
a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient
postage for the return of materials. Fill out the
entry form below. Please mail form, SASE and CDs
to Umbrella Arts, UNDRESSED,
317 East 9th St, NYC, 10003.
Submissions must be post marked no later
than Saturday, May 5, 2007. Do not use certified
or registered mail. Submissions may also be delivered
by hand on May 5th, to Umbrella Arts from 2pm to
6:00 PM and by appointment.
FEE:
Include a check or money order for $30.00 payable
to Umbrella Arts with your entry signed form and
CD with 5 images formatted according to specs. Additional
images will be accepted if accompanied by $5.00
per image.
NOTIFICATION:
Artists will be notified by May 21, 2007. Approximately
50 photographs will be selected for the exhibition.
ACCEPTED WORK: A framed (with plexi,
no glass), wired, ready to hang, exhibition quality
print must be delivered to Umbrella Arts,
317 East 9th Street, New York, New York 10003 by
Saturday, June 9, 2007. Hand delivery will
be accepted on June 8th and 9th, from 2:00 PM to
6:00 PM. Works must be labeled with the artist name,
phone, title, edition and price.
Include a current resume and biography for inclusion
in our exhibition guide. Submitted work must be
for sale. Pick up of work will be on July 17, 2007,
at Umbrella Arts from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM. Unsold work
will be returned to the photographer provided that
a SASE or air-bill has been provided to Umbrella
Arts. If you cannot deliver or pick up on the specified
dates, use an agent or carrier service.
ABOUT
UMBRELLA ARTS: Mary Ann Fahey and Margaret
Bodell have joined forces to create a new gallery
and project space, Umbrella Arts, located in the
heart of New York's historic East Village. For 15
years, these downtown galleries pioneers Mary Ann
Fahey and Margaret Bodell have introduced many new
artists to the New York art world, and worked to
expand the traditional notion of an art exhibition
by using it as a vehicle for creating community
and promoting social change.
RECEPTION: A reception for photographers,
friends and press, hosted by Umbrella Arts, will
be held on opening night, July, 2007,
at Umbrella Arts, 317 East 9th Street, New
York, NY 10003. Time: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
SALES: Umbrella Arts will handle
all sales for photographers. Photographers will
retain 70% of sales price, and Umbrella Arts will
retain 30% on all sales. The price indicated on
the entry form will be considered the retail price
of each image. Once the final exhibition print has
been dropped off at the gallery, Umbrella Arts will
be happy to consult with artists on pricing.
LIABILITY: Umbrella Arts will take
necesssary precautions in the handling of your art,
however liability of artwork is the responsibility
of the participating artist/photographer. Umbrella
Arts, their employees or any agents thereof cannot
be held responsible for any liability of the artist.
